INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

  • Read the paper carefully before answering the questions.
  • Answer two questions.
  • Answer one question from Section A and the one from Section B.
  • Write your answers on a separate answer sheet.
  • If you use more than one sheet fasten the sheets together.

INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES

  • You are advised to spend 50 minutes on Section A and 40 minutes on Section B.
  • SECTION A (30 MARKS)

    Write a composition on one of the following topics. Your answer should be between 350 and 450 words in length. You are advised to spend 50 minutes on this section.

    1   Describe the attractions of your favorite month of the year.   [30]

    2. Write a story based on one of the following:

    Either (a)   Look before you leap.                         [30]

    Or        (b)   She could note wait ….                        [30]

    3. Money is the key to happiness. Do you agree?   [30]

    5. Write a story in which the failure to post a letter has important consequences. [30]

    SECTION B (20 MARKS)

    Answer the following question. You are advised to spend 40 minutes on this section. Begin your answer on a fresh page.

    8.    The Head of your school has asked you to write a report on the services offered at the school tuckshop.

    Write the report suggesting practical ways in which the service could be improved. Use the following notes and some of your own.

    -attendant rude and generally slow

    -standards of hygiene

    -afternoon lessons delayed

    -variety of goods

    -regular spot checks
