About the New Curriculum

Starting November 2018 students are now being examined under the new curriculum. The curriculum introduces the concept of continuous assessment. When the New curriculum was introduced it was supposed to bring with it continuous assessment. However due to financial constraints ZIMSEC have indefinitely suspended continuous assessment for most subjects.

Continuous assessment still continues for a set number of subjects i.e. Some sciences and practicals such as Agriculture. It is important to note that these subjects have always had continuous assessment via mechanisms such as projects which have to be submitted to ZIMSEC by examination centers on behalf of prospective candidates. Your center will inform you if you need to do a project/coursework for a given subject. Most subjects do not require coursework.

It is important to note that apart from various cosmetic changes, there has not been much change in the content within the subjects themselves. Most of the changes come in the form of changes in philosophy and assessment methods.
