  • These are non-profit and usually voluntary organization whose members have a common cause for which they seek to influence political or corporate decision makers to achieve a declared objective
  • Pressure groups lobby on behalf of their members to ensure that their cause is held and prioritized
  • They constantly promote their causes
  • Pressure are often colloquially known as non governmental organisations (NGOs)
  • It is important to note that not all NGOs are pressure groups
  • Some are just charities
  • Pressure groups can influence businesses directly through petitions, social media or court cases
  • They can also influence businesses indirectly through government lobbying

  • Padare- an organisation which fights for gender equality and men’s rights
  • Msasa Project- an organisation which fights gender equality and women’s rights
  • The Girl Child Network-fights for women’s rights and gender equality
  • Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights- fight for justice and mounts campaigns against those who oppress
  • Harare Residents Association- fights for the rights of Harare residents mainly against the Harare City Council
  • Zimbabwe’s Women Resource Center and Network
  • Woman of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA)
  • Self Employed Women’ Association Of Zimbabwe
  • Consumer Council of Zimbabwe
  • Zimbabwe Albino Association
  • Green Peace
  • Amnesty International
  • OXFAM
  • People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA)
  • Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
